May I answer thus your official letter No.53548/36
of the 17th December about the export of arms from Hong
Kong to Macao?
You will have noticed that in paragraph 3 of our
despatch to Washington No. 808 of the 2nd September,
1935, of which a copy was sent to you under cover of
Foreign Office letter No. F 5538/60/10 of the same date,

we informed the Ambassador that exports of war material
would only be permitted to the Government of Macao or

their accredited representatives.

practice of the Colonial Governments in this respect
was assimilated to that of the home government.
